A Landscape of Legacy
Preservation & Collaboration
Since 1993, the Bellevue Historical Society has been committed to preserving the rich heritage of Bellevue and our southern neighbors. Inside our museum and archives lies a wealth of local history, from vintage photographs and family papers to historic maps, manuscripts, and invaluable oral histories recorded by residents who lived it.
Celebrating Community
The resilience of Bellevue and south-of-Bellevue has always been anchored by a profound sense of community. Since 1881, this has been a place of collective strength—where neighbors support neighbors and a dedicated workforce has fueled industries both here at home and further up the valley. Our shared heritage is permanently shaped by this legacy of hard work and mutual cooperation.
Honoring Our Multicultural Past
Long before statehood, our rugged landscapes drew ambitious pioneers, miners, and fortune-seekers from the American East, all eager to build a new future on the frontier. Alongside them, Chinese workers brought vital skills and determination. Later, Basque and Peruvian sheep herders arrived, lending their deep generational knowledge to the high-desert ranges and transforming Idaho's agricultural heritage. From Indigenous caretakers to waves of global immigrants, our community’s foundation was built by a diverse collective whose resilience and cultures continue to define the spirit of Bellevue today.
A Future Informed by Our History
Today, the Bellevue Historical Society and Museum stands as a guardian of these stories. Through curation, community outreach, and partnership with the City of Bellevue, we ensure that the artifacts and narratives of our past remain a living part of our future.
